Arthritis - we suffer from it and unfortunately, so do our dogs. That's right. This is a condition that is prevalent in the canine population. More often than not, it is caused by old age; however, injury, infections and sicknesses may also aggravate your pet's health which can result in a form of arthritis. You can help avoid this by taking special care of your dog. If your dog already has this, dont feel bad. You can get a good dog arthritis treatment that will give him a better quality of life.

You have several options in addressing your pets ailment. It is essential that you have a consultation with the vet and obtain a thorough check-up for your dog before going into any treatment. It's possible that your pet may have some health issues that should factor in when deciding on what the appropriate dog arthritis medicine is for him.

Non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drugs are the usual treatment for canine arthritis. These are generally safe but its effect may vary from case to case. They reduce inflammation while hindering the progress of the disease. While human arthritis may be same in many respects to its canine counterpart, never administer the same cure unless specifically instructed by a trusted vet.

Some examples of these NSAID drugs are Deramaxx and Rimadyl. They are applied together with joint fluid modifiers; they function to heal and soothe the painful joints. Fluid modifiers are extremely helpful in easing pain; however when used alone, is not very effective.

You can also avail of many natural remedies that help manage arthritis better. Alfalfa is an herb that has been known to ease joint pains. The Yucca herb contains steroids that also provide pain relief and Mussels repair weakened connective tissues. Stinging nettles are known to alleviate body soreness while detoxifying the circulation system also.

Of course, you can use a vaccine for this also. You should know though that vaccine is not so much a dog arthritis medicine. It is more of a precautionary measure to keep this degenerative ailments effects at bay. Check with the veterinarian regarding the best treatment and arthritis therapy you should engage your pet in.

Remember, there are several kinds of arthritis. It is critical that you know which one it is your pet is experiencing so that you know what dog arthritis treatment will work best on him. Be vigilant in its symptoms because doing so can stop the disease from progressing further. Some of these symptoms include lethargy, limping, difficulty in standing and sitting down, avoiding being touched, and shrinking muscle tone.

Canine arthritis is not the best condition to find your dog in. The good news is that it can usually be prevented and moreover, is manageable when it is already there. You can do your part in ensuring his best health by maintaining your dogs ideal weight, taking him out for light exercise always, and visiting the vet regularly.
