Are Goldendoodle Puppies For Sale In Phoenix Arizona A Good Fit For You

By Brian Fisher

Some people get excited about adding a pet to their family. Everyone should be very careful though before they make a commitment that may last close to two decades. Once you know a new pet is appropriate for your home, you must select the type of animal that will be the best fit for your family situation. There many popular breeds of dogs to choose from including the Goldendoodle puppies for sale in Phoenix Arizona.

This mix of poodle and Golden Retriever is a fairly new breed and was introduced partially because of the popularity of its relative, the Labradoodle. Because the breed is so new, it has not yet been recognized by the kennel clubs. The characteristics, size, coat, and temperament are still evolving. No one should ever purchase a puppy from a mill or an unscrupulous breeder in part because the animal's normal personality traits can be distorted by poor living conditions and rough treatment.

Individuals looking for a family pet rather than a show dog will be interested in considering the Goldendoodle. These are fun loving animals with outgoing personalities. They generally respond positively to children of all ages and are not bothered by other pets that have already claimed territory in the household.

Goldendoodles are smart, adaptable dogs that respond well when they are trained at a young age. This is one reason they are gaining a reputation as good assistance and guide dogs. You will have to be consistent in what you expect from them in order to maintain good behavior. Rewarding them with treats and affection is the best method of teaching these animals.

This breed is energetic without being overly demanding. They are a medium size dog that should have regular exercise to keep them healthy and happy. Goldendoodles do not usually respond well to long periods of solitude and inactivity. They may become restless and destructive if left to their own devices.

Even though it is still a new breed, all evidence points to its being very hearty and robust. Annual veterinary visits should include special screening for eye and skin disorders and hip and elbow dysplasia as these are weaknesses some of the animals may suffer. Goldendoodles also tend to gain weight as they age, so attention must be paid to that aspect of their health.

Because the breed is still so new, you can expect variations in the body types, the coat texture, and the adult height and weight. Goldendoodles are medium sized dogs, but some are very slender while others tend to be stocky and broader. Grooming should not be a big problem as long as they are brushed regularly and bathed every few months. Trimming the fur over their eyes once in awhile is a good idea.

Most pets become beloved members of the family and mourned as such when they eventually pass away. Those who have fond memories of a childhood canine friend might just make some new good memories with these loving dogs.
